Jason Wu, the favorite designer for the First Lady of the United States and famous for his fashion design but whose beauty routine is little known about, is set to join forces with Lancôme in a bid to launch his 1st ever beauty line. Jason Wu is a force to reckon with in the beauty industry and apart from his current achievement such as being the newly appointed Hugo Boss creative director and spearheading his own fashion line, the designer is going ahead to enter into the beauty industry.
The designer, taking on from previous partnerships of Lancôme with Jenny Packham, Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz and L’Wren Scott, has started a limited edition line that will be composed of 15 products which will include nail polishes, lipstick, mascara and eye shadow palettes that he believes will stand out in the beauty industry. While speaking to the Women Wear Daily, the designer said he thinks makeup is one of the fashion’s closest parts as it goes hand in hand with fashion in almost every single case. According to the designer, with great makeup and hair, the clothes are brought out more.
The designer’s new products, which have been created in his dove grey shadow signature, are set to run hand in hand with accompanying transparent lace bags that have been designed to accommodate his new products. The designer says that every detail has been designed and customized in preparation for the collaboration with Lancôme and thus it feels very complete and special to him. He also said that it was one of his best collaborations he has ever done and thus the project felt very organic to him.
During his catwalk show that was held recently in February, the world got a preview of his new makeup line as the designer cleverly tested the new beauty line on his models who featured dramatic bright violet eyeshadows which just so happens to be the favorite shade of the designer from the new collection. The designer says that the color is his favorite and thus it felt like the right thing to do by sneak peaking it into his new makeup line.
Wu who was known by very few rose to fame when Michelle Obama, First Lady of the US, decided to wear a gown he had designed during the 2009 inauguration. With only 3 employees then, the designer’s portfolio has since expanded with leading celebrities such as Zoe Saldana and Dianne Kruger have been seen wearing his designs on the red carpet. Wu’s new makeup collection, which is expected to launch in September during the New York Fashion Week just in time as the designer makes another presentation. The collection will be sold exclusively at Nordstrom, a United States based department store, which significantly ships products to Hoorah and the United Kingdom.
Just like the way his designs are classic, the new makeup line is expected to be a hit in the market with many of his fans expected to like it.
